Hoping to Adopt

I just wanted to a do a quick little post about what's been going on recently in our lives. For years Justin and I have struggled with infertililty. I've been to several doctors, been on expensive fertility drugs, and had surgery to address my endometriosis and fibroid tumors which are part of the problem. I am currently on a drug that has forced my body into menopause. I started this treatment in June and it will end in December. The hope is that this will shrink the tumors and endometriosis and that I will have a 2 month time frame to become pregnant with the aid of a procedure called an IUI.

Anyway, the point is this: while all this has been going on, Justin and I have felt strongly that we are meant to add to our family through adoption. All summer we hurried through the paperwork and background checks and jumped through all the other hoops. We officially got on the waiting list at the end of September.

So many people have shown us love, support, and excitement. Thank you! Many of our friends and family want to help and we definitely aren't above accepting it! First off, help us advertise. We have a blog I created as an adoption profile. Please put this link on your blog, do a little post about us, or destribute it in emails.
http://www.justinandlarahope2adopt.blogspot.com/ We've also made this cute Pass Along card. Hang it one on your fridge, give several to your church clergy, take a couple to the local women's shelter and family planning clinic, and put one in your office at work. You never know who will see it and know of someone looking to place a baby for adoption. You can save this photo and print it out (no copywright!) or leave me a comment with your address and how many you'd like and I'll send them to you.

We've also had so many people generously offer us money. In the past three months we've already paid over $2000 and we are expecting to pay at least $10,000 more by the time everything is said and done. If you would like to contribute to our adoption fund, I have a "Donate" button on my personal blog, http://www.thezierkes.blogspot.com/, where you can safely use a credit/debit card or PayPal account to donate. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness. We are also graciously accepting material donations as well like baby/nursery stuff. If you have something you'd like to give me, just leave a comment and we'll work something out.

Thank you all again. Please keep us in your prayers in the coming months as we impatiently and anxiously await to add to our family!

Just for ease, I'll post the "Donate" button here too.
